Morecambe Bay Partnership was one of the many marine conservation projects that benefited from the funding that Sea-Changers distributed last year, a project that you helped fund through purchases at Mike's Dive Store.
Morecambe Bay Partnership has already achieved a lot in their community to run various volunteer projects to record local wildlife numbers, organise events to raise awareness, document their area's history for future generations and encourage local communities to engage and learn about Morecambe Bay.
The Sea-Changers funding that we donated last year paid for new beach cleaning equipment for their BeachCare project. Morecambe Bay Partnership has been working with volunteers to regularly litter pick the Morecambe Bay area since 2003 and have collected more than a staggering 29 tonnes of rubbish from their beaches, much of it plastics. With disturbing images of wildlife killed by ingested plastic regularly making the news it is of vital importance that this waste is cleared before it can do more damage to marine life.
Morecambe Bay Partnership kindly sent us some photos of recent beach clean up events and some of the new equipment. Keep up the great work protecting our coastline from litter.
