Mike's Dive Store Marine Conservation Initiative with Seachangers

MIKE’S DIVE STORE RAISES OVER £20,000 FOR UK MARINE CONSERVATION PROJECTS

Since 2015 Mikes’ Dive Store has been raising money for UK marine conservation activities by supporting the charity, Sea-Changers. Mike’s, a leading and long established diving retailer donates 1% of its profits to the charity. Customers are invited to match the company’s generosity and make their own donations too.

The money raised feeds into Sea-Changers’ grant fund which is distributed to UK based marine conservation projects. Mike’s Dive Store has chosen to demonstrate its already strong environmental commitment and it has recently reached the milestone of raising over £20,000 in this way. The company is one of a growing community of Sea-Changer businesses and individuals who are passionate about giving something back to the seas they love.

Sea-Changers distributes the donated money, in accordance with their funding policy, to a range of projects engaged in: direct marine clean up action, education and awareness-raising about marine conservation issues, species and habitat protection, and conservation research. Many of the projects they fund undertake grassroots community conservation work that simply would not take place without the Sea-Changers grant.

Making an Impact: Mike’s Dive Store & Sea-Changers 2024 Impact Report

At Mike’s Dive Store, we believe that every dive should leave nothing behind but bubbles. That’s why we’ve proudly supported Sea-Changers since 2015, donating over £20,000 to help fund marine conservation projects across the UK.

Sea-Changers’ latest Impact Report showcases how, with the support of partners like us, they’re tackling some of the biggest threats to our oceans. In 2024 alone, they funded 68 projects—from removing ocean plastics and protecting marine species to installing coastal water fountains and supporting community-led conservation.

Mike’s Dive Store Celebrates Fundraising Milestone in Support of Healthy Oceans

About Sea-Changers

What makes Sea-Changers different is how they raise the money for their important work. They aim to harness the energy, good will and resources of sea-users to help raise the funding available for marine conservation.

Sea-changers works with partner companies such as dive companies, cruise holiday companies and marinas that rely on healthy oceans for their success. They develop bespoke fundraising partnerships with them, for example we have committed to donating a percentage of every sale. Their partners then pass these donations on to them and they distribute 100% of the money raised to support marine conservation work.

Sea Changers fund addresses urgent threats to our seas

 Wondering how you can help? 

  • Unsustainable fishing

    The world's fisheries are becoming fully exploited or overfished. But billions of unwanted fish and other animals are dying needlessly each year.

  • Climate change

    Marine plants produce at least 50% of the oxygen in our atmosphere and the oceans absorb at third of the carbon dioxide. Rising sea temperatures inhibit the ocean's ability to regulate our climate.

  • Pollution

    Our seas are being polluted by agriculture, shipping, oil rigs, tourism and factories. Discarded plastic kills thousands of mammals, birds and fish that become entangled in it or mistake it for food.
