Scuba Schools International (SSI) has carved out a distinct niche in the scuba diving world since its inception in 1970. SSI stands apart, particularly in its unique approach to instructor recruitment and training. Unlike PADI, which recruits instructors directly, SSI operates through a vast network of affiliated schools. These schools are tasked with recruiting instructors and ensuring they remain up-to-date with the latest procedures and industry developments. This model allows for a broad and responsive training ecosystem, enabling SSI to maintain high standards of instruction and safety.

With materials available in over 30 languages and a presence in more than 110 countries, SSI is a formidable force in the global scuba training arena, second only to PADI. The organization's expansive reach is further bolstered by its diverse course offerings, which include freediving, open circuit technical dives, and closed circuit rebreather courses.

SSI's reputation for quality and international recognition is also underpinned by its Global ISO Certification. This ensures that SSI's training and certifications are recognized and respected worldwide, opening doors for divers to explore waters in virtually any part of the globe.

The pathway for aspiring divers begins with the SSI Open Water Diver course, which is meticulously designed to equip novices with the necessary skills for safe and enjoyable dives. The course encompasses an online academic program, six confined water sessions to hone skills in a controlled environment, and four open water dives. Completion of this course authorizes new divers to explore the underwater world to a maximum depth of 18 metres, setting the stage for a lifetime of underwater adventures.
